Our second fundraiser, Together Against Hunger, was a continuation of our fundraising for COVID-19 relief. We found that during the pandemic food insecurity began to rise while donations fell, so we chose to raise money for the Greater Boston Food Bank. Our efforts united a team of over 30 high school students, along with countless donors from the community. Together, we raised over $2,800 to aid the Food Bank in its mission to provide nutrition to those in need in the midst of a global pandemic.
“Greater Boston Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, we distributed 98.8 million pounds of nutritious food to people who struggle to have enough to eat. We are committed to increasing our food distribution to provide three meals a day to every person in need in Eastern Massachusetts while supporting healthy lives and healthy communities.”
“One in 8 residents of Eastern Massachusetts is expected to experience food insecurity in 2020 as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. As the demand for food continues to rise, we, at The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), remain committed to our mission. We are in ongoing communication with our partners, staff and volunteers to maintain safe practices that will ensure healthy food continues to be distributed to our neighbors in need.”
